Blog: Faces of CELA, Lindsay Dixon
What is your role and how long have you been involved with CELA?
I started at CELA in the middle of July as the 2023-2024 articling student.
What inspired you to get involved in environmental law and public policy?
I became interested in environmental law after participating in the University of Detroit Mercy’s environmental law clinic, which specifically focused on environmental justice.
What do you think is Canada’s biggest environmental challenge today?
One of Canada’s many environmental challenges today is the drastic increase in extreme weather events including wildfires, flooding, and heatwaves, all of which are having significant consequences on human health and ecosystems.
A transition to renewable and clean energy sources would help to reduce pressure on Canada’s natural resources while also lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Promote more sustainable methods of transportation, including increasing the accessibility of electric vehicles and public transit in order to help reduce emissions.
