CELA letter on Legal Jurisdiction for Maximum Temperature By-laws

CELA has completed a legal analysis of the broad authority of the CIty of Hamilton to pass a maximum temperature by-law which would set indoor temperature standards in all rental units. Maximum temperature by-laws are a critical climate justice measure to protect tenants from the serious health impacts of extreme heat, made worse by climate change.
