CELA Submission on Enabling Greater Beneficial Reuse of Excess Soil

CELA has made submissions to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks in response to the proposal to amend Ontario Regulation (the Excess Soil Regulation). The proposal was posted on the Environmental Registry of Ontario for comments (ERO 019-9196).

The proposed amendments are intended to facilitate the reuse of excess soil in Ontario, particularly with respect to infrastructure projects.

CELA is concerned that the proposal, if implemented, would likely increase soil contamination in Ontario and potentially cause adverse effects to human health and the environment.
