Climate change is a public health and equity crisis. Indoor temperatures above 26 degrees Celsius are unsafe. The proposed increase in funding for air conditioning units is welcome. However, a property standard which sets a maximum indoor temperature of 26 degrees Celsius in all rental units is urgently needed to keep tenants safe. In-home cooling is not a luxury.
