As the COVID-19 pandemic was unfolding, CELA and Dr. Ramana requested the Commission extend the consultation period for the environmental assessment of Canada’s first small modular nuclear reactor. We pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic poses significant barriers to meaningful public engagement and the CNSC’s process should provide additional time for public participation.
