Alan D. Levy

Alan D. Levy, a retired lawyer, mediator and adjudicator, now residing in
Cobourg, is one of the founding members of CELA in 1970.  He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1972 and for several years worked on behalf of low income clients who received legal aid certificates, or as duty counsel. He taught environmental law and was the founding director of the Environmental Practicum at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto.

Over many years, his environmental adjudication/mediation work has included appointments to the former Ontario Environmental Assessment Board, Environmental Appeal Board, Niagara Escarpment Hearings Office, Environmental Review Tribunal, and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (funding panels).

Since retiring he has been a volunteer with public interest groups involved in the climate action movement.
