Biography:

Joseph Castrilli joined CELA in 2008 as a staff lawyer and is a member of the Ontario and British Columbia Bars. He is also certified as a specialist in environmental law by the Law Society of Ontario.

He received an LL.B. (1984) from Queen’s and an LL.M. (1997) in environmental and natural resources law from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

He represents clients before administrative tribunals and the courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, particularly in relation to air and water pollution, toxic substances, hazardous waste, and environmental assessment matters.

He has also written extensively on environmental law issues and is the author of the Annotated Guide to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act.
