The Toronto Heat Safety Coalition made a written submission to the City of Toronto’s Budget Committee to include a new program to provide free air conditioners to low-income tenants in Toronto before summer 2025. Extreme heat indoors is dangerous to the health and safety of low-income tenants, especially as climate change worsens. This new program will help to protect vulnerable individuals from the worst health impacts of extreme heat
