Responding to Federal proposals for Regulations Amending the Sulphur in Gasoline Regulations

The federal government set regulations for Sulphur levels in gasoline under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Under the current regime, some affected facilities that are required to meet the sulphur levels have not been able to meet the target levels. The existing regulations established a sulphur credit system at an interim basis for use by facilities that are unable to meet the targets. The proposed amendments to the regulations will extend the use of the Sulphur credit system to allow facilities time to adopt technology to reduce sulphur. CELA responds to the proposed amendments to the regulations.
