Radon is a known cancer risk. It is a radioactive soil gas that can build up to harmful levels in indoor air.

  • Long-term exposure to high levels of radon causes lung cancer.
  • Schools and child care environments can have high levels of radon.
  • Radon testing is easy and inexpensive.

This Healthy Schools Day — April 3, 2018 — we are reaching out across Canada to join voices about the need to Rule Out Radon in all schools and child care programs.

Here’s what you can do:

Join us in calling on governments to protect children and staff from this serious and preventable health risk.

Act now. And ask others to do the same.

The Canadian Partnership for Children’s Health an Environment (CPCHE) is the newly appointed lead organization for Healthy Schools Day in Canada, which this year is April 3, 2018. For Healthy Schools Day 2018, CPCHE is working with one of its longstanding partners, the Canadian Child Care Federation (CCCF), and many others to bring awareness to radon—a known cancer risk that can be present in schools and child care environments.
