Urging Canada to address toxic chemicals in Plastics in advance of Plastic Treaty negotiations

The global community is holding its fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental negotiating committee (INC) towards a global plastic treaty in November 2024 in Busan, Korea. Many elements of the plastic treaty remain to be negotiated including a focus on capping plastic production, focus on prohibition of certain plastic products, management of plastics and focus on toxic chemicals used in the production of plastic materials. In advance of INC 5, the Canadian environmental and health organization are advocating for Canada to commit its support to eliminate the use of toxic chemicals in the production of toxic and the circularity framework for plastics.
