Environmental groups have submitted an Application for request to review the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing under the Environmental Bill of Rights, to respect international safety guidelines and protect public safety by restricting population growth around the ten aging nuclear reactors operating in the rapidly growing Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
On December 9, 2015 CELA and the Canadian Association of University Teachers submitted a petition to the Office of the Auditor General regarding Canada’s continued use and imports of asbestos. Letters of response were received from Environment and Climate Change Canada, Health Canada and Public Works and Government Services.
