The Canadian Environmental Law Association, in conjunction with the Friends of the Porcupine River Watershed, will be providing a free session on environmental issues in Timmins and the ways you can get involved in environmental decision-making that affects your community.

The Friends of the Porcupine River Watershed is a local non-profit group dedicated to educating, influencing, promoting and supporting community-based stewardship of natural resources in the Porcupine River Watershed. Come out to learn about the Friends, their plans and goals, and how you can become involved with community-based stewardship in Timmins.

CELA staff will present on a number of topics, including:

  • How indoor environmental contaminants, like radon, can affect your health
  • Energy efficiency and retrofit programs, and other ways to keep energy costs down
  • How to stay informed about local environmental issues, and how to get involved in land-use planning and other decisions that impact you
