The Canadian Environmental Law Association, in conjunction with the Friends of the Porcupine River Watershed, will be providing a free session on environmental issues in Timmins and the ways you can get involved in environmental decision-making that affects your community.
The Friends of the Porcupine River Watershed is a local non-profit group dedicated to educating, influencing, promoting and supporting community-based stewardship of natural resources in the Porcupine River Watershed. Come out to learn about the Friends, their plans and goals, and how you can become involved with community-based stewardship in Timmins.
CELA staff will present on a number of topics, including:
How indoor environmental contaminants, like radon, can affect your health
Energy efficiency and retrofit programs, and other ways to keep energy costs down
How to stay informed about local environmental issues, and how to get involved in land-use planning and other decisions that impact you
